Visite des frères croates a Bukavu

Ce mois de juillet a été marqué par la visite des frères franciscains de la Croatie (Split) à Bukavu. En effet, l’arrivée du franciscanisme au Kivu est l’œuvre des missionnaires croates depuis les années 1974. Cependant, les guerres successives de 1996 et suivant les ont forcés a laisser cette terre désormais dangereuse pour retourner chez eux en Croatie. 15 ans après, 4 parmi eux parmi lesquels Bozo, Ante, et Stoyen sont venus visiter les frères franciscains autochtones de Bukavu qui, dès lors, ont continué leur mission contre vents et marrais. Ils sont arrivés a Bukavu le 7 juillet et en sont rentrés le 26 juillet suivant. Leur visite avait comme but de réconforter les frères qui malgré les conditions très difficiles et d’insécurité, ont tout de même porté en avant les missions franciscaines.  Ils ont visité toutes les communautés franciscaines de Bukavu et en des occasions ils se sont entretenus avec des chrétiens qui gardent d’eux un bon souvenir. Le 10 juillet, ils ont dis une messe solennelle a la paroisse de Nyantende et, à l’occasion, ils ont baptisé une trentaine d’enfants. Pendant cette semaine, ils se sont rendu aussi au secteur Ihasi, un des secteurs de la paroisse de Nyantende où ils ont célébré la messe avec les chrétiens de ces villages. Le dimanche suivant c’etait le tour des paroisses Kaziba et Burhinyi, tandis que les 21 et 22, le tour de la paroisse de Luhwinja. Dans toutes ces paroisses, ils ont eu l’occasion de célébrer la messe avec les fideles. A l’occasion de leur visite à Bukavu, ces hôtes se sont rendus à kivumu au Rwanda pour visiter le lieu où un de leurs avait été assassiné en 1994. Ils ont en outre payé une visite de courtoisie à l’archevêque Mgr François Xavier Maroy

A l’issu de leur visite a Bukavu, les frères croates ont exprimé leur satisfaction pour la continuité de l’œuvre  qu’ils avaient commencée !

Visit of the Croatian Franciscan Friars in Bukavu

The month of July was marked by the visit of the Franciscan friars of Croatia (Split) in Bukavu. In fact, the arrival of Franciscanism in Kivu is the work of the Croatian missionaries around the year  1970. However, the successive wars of the 1996 onwards, they were forced to leave this place which had become dangerous and, so, returned back to Croatia. 15 years later, four of them including Bozo, Ante, and Stoyen came to visit the local Franciscan friars in Bukavu, who  continued their mission. They arrived in Bukavu on July 7 and returned on 26 July. The aim of their visit was to comfort the friars in the very difficult conditions and insecurity they have been working in.. They visited all the Franciscan communities and parishes in Bukavu, met with the faithful  who keep good memories of them. On July 10, they said a solemn Mass in the parish of Nyantende and, on occasion, they baptized about thirty infants. During the same week, they visited as well IHASI,  a pastoral sector in the parish of Nyantende where they celebrated Mass with the villagers. The following Sunday was the turn of the parishes of Kaziba and Burhinyi, while the 21th and the 22th was the turn of the Parish Luhwinja. In all these parishes, they had the opportunity to celebrate Mass with the faithful. On the occasion of their visit to Bukavu, these hosts went in Kivumu in Rwanda to visit a place where one of them was murdered in 1994. They also paid a courtesy visit to Mgr Francis Xavier Maroy,  Archbishop of Bukavu.

 At the end of their visit to Bukavu, the Croatian friars said they were very satisfied as the friars has continued well the evangelizing mission they have started
